iPad Notes Application Syncs to Gmail

Synchronization of Notes to Gmail

I discovered today that my notes created in the Note Pad application that comes with the ipad synchronizes with a mailbox called "notes" I found in my Gmail account...

Every note I had written had an entry !

Strange but true!

In Gmail, I can not edit these notes, but if I delete them in Gmail, they get deleted on my iPad.

Shazam, Music identification

One very interesting application you can download is Shazam. If you are listening to music on the radio or even music which is streaming from the internet on another ipad application, you can open Shazam, press the listen button, and see if it can identify the music.

A similar application is Soundhound, and Soundhound Pro which I purchased. Both these don't work very well and the "Pro" version seems more busy with advertising than does the "free" version.

Flipboard

Flipboard *****

It gets 5 stars from me.

This is a very nice app you can download to the ipad for free.
It's like having a magazine that keeps changing content as time goes. You decide what topics you're interested in following like: Science, News, etc.

Check it out here!

Keypass on the ipad

One thing about new technology is that it can simplify your life --or it can make it even more complex !!!

I love my new ipad because now I don't need to use a mouse. I'm like a cat on the screen. :-)

I'll discuss the merits and "gotchya's" of the ipad later.

It's enough to know now that KEEPASS works not only in Windows, on Linux, but also on an ipad !

WOW ! This is interoperability beyond Apple's wides dreams (or plans).

To make this work, you need a way to download the keepass data file to the ipad. This could be done in itunes on Windows, but alas I don't use Windows.

So I used Dropbox, a small application that can be loaded both on the ipad as well as the desktop. They have clients that work both in Windows for you, and in Linux (for me -yeh!)

1. download Dropbox from the Apple App Store on the ipad
2. download and install Dropbox to your desktop.
3. create a Dropbox account on the dropbox website
4. use your new user name and password to configure both the desktop client and the ipad client to "see" your new account at Dropbox.

Dropbox will create a directory on your Desktop called "Dropbox". If you copy and paste a file into this directory, Dropbox will automatically send it to your ipad.

Syncronize Your Gmail Contacts

Here are very nice instructions on how to synchronize your iPad contacts to your Gmail contacts.

This means that you don't have to type them all again!

They worked well for me !

Thanks.
